Release of Smart Operations v2

Today I am releasing Smart Operations v2 https://lnkd.in/g5_qdtuG , a much overdue refresh of my original 2003 whitepaper where I make a case that businesses who create intelligent business processes that leverage their ecosystem intelligence to optimally respond to actual or predicted events will outpace competition. In the refresh, I update much of the architectural foundation with AI-inspired tech (Agents, Agentic) but also spend considerable time characterizing an evolutionary transformation grounded in transforming core business processes through classic automation, to agents, and ultimately to full agentic. Please note, I recognize Agentic is not there yet (as spelled out in the famous MIT Report) but I believe that by the time you work through a few steps in the evolution described, many/all of those tech issues will be successfully dealt with. I discuss at length several critical topics such as value creation, phased tech introduction, workforce transition, key constituents, and continuous improvement to ensure incremental investments drive adoption and measurable value. I suggest reading the first few page summary and using that as a guide for in-depth review. I look forward to robust dialogue and collective progress at making such programs 95% successful!
