TCF’s mission is to help IT fulfill its potential as a premier value creation engine in every business. On the IT side, we provide strategies, tools, and practices that help IT leadership build core operating and organizational capabilities that lock in its ability to execute at a high level. For Technology Product and Services providers, we offer expert guidance in ideation, product management, delivery, and continuous improvement which make their offerings the go-to choice for Enterprise customers.

Who we are

TCF is led by Tom Fountain whose career spans Global CIO, CTO, Product Management, and Operating Partner roles in leading multi-nationals, Private Equity, and start-ups. He is passionate about the practice of IT and sees the fulfillment of IT’s promise as a premier value creation engine for business as his driving force. Having worked in leading companies across a range of industry sectors and with hundreds of Technology and Service Providers over a 30+ year career, he brings a 360 degree perspective and deep expertise in multiple disciplines to IT organizations and  Tech/Service Providers alike.

Engagement Options

TCF offers several engagement models to best meet Customer needs: Retainer format offers the best flexibility across multiple, ongoing needs; Project-specific provides structure for a focused, problem-solving opportunity; and Hourly as a simple, bounded, and easily controlled option for a wide range of targeted offerings.

Chief Information Officer

10+ years in Divisional, Group, and Global CIO roles for large multi-nationals in multiple industries…industry leaders including GE, Honeywell, and Bunge Ltd

Led significant organizational development efforts to re-tool IT for value creation, drove IT cost structure reductions totaling $ 10’s M, instituted robust Portfolio Management practices to maximize capital investment returns and created $ 100+M in recognized business value, and developed leading tools and practices to assess and develop IT organizations.

Operating Partner

6+ years as a Private Equity Operating Partner for IT & Digital Transformation working across 15 PortCos in 5 sectors leading Carve-Outs, Digital Transformation, and Value Creation

Led the diligence, planning, and execution of multiple, accelerated IT carve-out/stand-ups across multiple acquisitions in 5 industry sectors. Highlights include greenfield ERP deployments in 6 – 15 months, application rationalization for portfolios of over 100 applications; restructuring IT operations for 10 – 30% cost reductions, and competitively engaging leading IT Service Providers aligned to a balanced in/outsourced IT Operating Model.

Chief Technology Officer / Chief Strategy Officer

9+ years as CTO / Head of Prod Mgmt / Chief Strategy Officer / Head of Marketing across High Tech (Dell), Software start-up, and tech-driven Healthcare Consulting. Co-Holder of 5 software patents in the distributed computing arena.

Led Product Management for a software startup and successfully secured 5 software patents to protect core IP, CTO and Chief Strategy Officer of a healthcare performance consulting company leading development and deployment of a cloud-based Analytics platform for Hospital Blood Lab operations; Led build-out of a Product Management team and instituted highly profitable pricing models for one of Dell’s Services businesses

Tech Consulting

Performed numerous consulting and advisory engagements for both established and start-up technology companies.

Worked with a software platform company to refine new market entry and positioning materials, refined go-to-market materials for a cloud migration platform provider, provided guidance on Product strategy and go-to-market model for a high-performance memory subsystem provider.
